Abbotsford Heat defenceman Brett Carson was recalled by the Calgary Flames on Thursday.
In 26 games with the Heat this season, the 27-year-old blueliner had already tied his AHL career-high with six goals and added five assists.
The Flames needed reinforcements on defence after placing Derek Smith (knee) on the injured reserve. Additionally, Mark Giordano will not travel to San Jose for Calgary's date with the Sharks on Friday due to his wife's pregnancy and the imminent birth of the couple's first child.
