Flames assign 12 players to Heat

A second round of cuts at Calgary Flames training camp has yielded another dozen players for the Abbotsford Heat, including the AHL club's presumptive goaltending tandem.

Netminders Leland Irving and Joni Ortio were assigned to the Heat on Monday morning. Forwards Carter Bancks, Ben Walter, Stefan Meyer, Greg Nemisz and Gaelan Patterson, and defencemen Chris Breen, T.J. Brodie, Brendan Mikkelson, Joe Piskula and Clay Wilson were also sent to Abbotsford.
