Flag football tournament kicks off Saturday

The third annual Western Canadian Flag Football Championship is set to hit the fields at Exhibition Park this weekend.

The third annual Western Canadian Flag Football Championship is set to hit the fields at Exhibition Park this weekend.

The tournament has attracted a field of 12 teams from B.C. and Washington state, including the defending champion Duncan Dawgs and a local entry from the Fraser Valley Touch Football League.

Games begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, and at 9 a.m. Sunday.

The event also features a fastest man competition, and the WCFFC Hall of Fame party, which runs Saturday, July 14 at 7 p.m. at Finnegan's Pub. Tickets for the party are $15 prior to July 10 and $20 thereafter, and can be purchased by contacting Scott Beadell at scott@wcffc.com.

The event features a variety of family-friendly activities, including a bouncy castle, face painting, prize giveaways and food vendors.
