Get to know Vancouver Giants second-year forward Johnny Wesley

Johnny Wesley is a 19-year-old forward in his third Western Hockey League season and second stint with the Vancouver Giants.

He began with the Giants, was traded to the Lethbridge Hurricanes and then re-acquired by the Giants ahead of this season.

In 24 games this season, the White Rock native has six goals and 11 points, both of which are career-highs.

Wesley also played in the BCHL with the Surrey Eagles in both 2014/15 and 2015/16.

He spent a few minutes with Times sports reporter Gary Ahuja to answer some questions about who he is on and off the ice.

How old were you when you first skated: 6.

Hockey hero: Sidney Crosby.

Biggest NHL name from your hometown: Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Jason Garrison.

Last movie you saw: The Accountant.

Last concert: Sunfest.

Pre-game ritual: Chicken and rice for my meal, a nap and then to the rink.

Favourite meal: Tacos.

Pump up song: Digital Dash by Drake and Future.

If you didn’t play hockey, what sport would you play: Football. Just one of my favourite sports; I love to watch it and it would be awesome to play.

If you couldn’t be a pro athlete, what would you do: A famous movie actor

Favourite subject in school: Social studies.

Nickname: Wes or Mad Dog

Most goals in a game: Seven, but not for a while.

Favourite thing about hockey: Being around the guys and going to war with them.
