Douglas off to Australia with Canadian rugby sevens side

Abbotsford native Justin Douglas has been named to Canada’s men's rugby sevens roster for the first leg of the IRB Sevens World Series.

Abbotsford native Justin Douglas has been named to Canada’s senior men's rugby sevens roster for the first leg of the IRB Sevens World Series.

The 12-man squad will travel to Australia for the event, which runs Oct. 12-13.

Douglas, age 19, made his debut with the Canadian men's sevens team at the same event in October 2012, and he was on the roster for the Rugby Sevens World Cup, held in Russia this past June.

The Bateman Secondary grad currently lives in Victoria, where he trains with Team Canada's centralized roster.
