Gagan Dosanjh, a UBC soccer player from Abbotsford, was a runner-up at the BLG Awards in Toronto on Monday evening.
The BLG Awards recognize the top male and female athletes in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS), and Dosanjh was one of four male nominees after leading the Thunderbirds to the national championship last season.
Kyle Quinlan, quarterback of the McMaster University football team, beat out Dosanjh for the award, which came with a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship. UBC volleyball player Shanice Marcelle was the female recipient.
