The Brookswood Bobcats senior girls basketball team was mobbed by their classmates after winning the B.C. 3A basketball title at the Langley Events Centre. The Bobcats defeated the W.J. Mouat Hawks 60-48.
The Brookswood Bobcats turned up the defensive intensity in the second half, turning a one-point deficit into a 60-48 victory to capture their second consecutive B.C. 3A senior girls provincial championship title.The Bobcats defeated Abbotsford's W.J. Mouat Hawks on Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre.It was the fifth meeting of the season between the top two ranked teams in the province with No. 1 Brookswood winning the final four.The ’Cats led 18-10 in the first quarter Mouat scored 20 of the next 31 points to lead 30-29 at the half.But the second half saw Brookswood's defence come through as they limited the Hawks to 18 points over the final 20 minutes.Aislinn Konig — who won her second consecutive most valuable player award — led Brookswood with 26 points, eight rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.She was also the tournament's most outstanding defensive player.Louise Forsyth had 17 points, six rebounds and two assists and Tayla Jackson had 10 points, nine rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals.Jackson was a first team all-star while Julia Marshall was a second team all-star.Mouat's Cierra Roufosse led her team with 15 points.
