The UFV women's soccer program has added four local recruits for the 2014 season.

The University of the Fraser Valley women’s soccer team is shopping local for a large portion of its 2014 recruiting class.

Cascades bench boss Rob Giesbrecht also serves as coach of the U18 Fraser Valley Football Club, which plays in the BC Soccer Premier League, and he’s signed four players from that squad – Sarah Miller, Lauren Venhola, Kris Collins and McKenzie Hildebrand.

Miller, whose father Colin is the former head coach of the Abbotsford Soccer Association and the UFV women and currently helms FC Edmonton of the North American Soccer League, is a central midfielder out of Robert Bateman Secondary. She can play in either a holding role or in a more advanced role, and has developed a reputation as a fierce competitor.

Yale Secondary student Venhola is comfortable playing as a central striker or in a wider role, and is an outstanding athlete with the potential to be a formidable attacking force in the CIS.

Fellow Yalean Collins is a versatile player who boasts great pace and power, and will likely compete for a role as an outside back at UFV in light of her excellent passing and defensive skills.

Hildebrand is an attacking player from Chilliwack’s Sardis Secondary who possesses an excellent work ethic. She can get behind opponents with her pace off the ball and also has the vision to dissect opponents with her passing.
