Thomas Kippes of the Abbotsford Mission Boxing Club won his weight class at a tournament hosted by Seamar Boxing Club in Seattle last week.
Kippes, one of three local fighters in attendance at the Seattle tourney along with Owen Bergen and Carsen Dyck, was victorious in his opening match on Saturday, and went on to beat Jerry Lewis in Sunday's final. It was a challenging fight, as Lewis boasted an eight-inch reach advantage, but Kippes earned a unanimous decision thanks to quick footwork and fast combinations.
