The Columbia Bible College men's volleyball team opened the CCAA national championship tournament with a victory over host Sherbrooke in Thursday's quarter-finals.The Bearcats, who came in seeded No. 6, blasted No. 3 seed Sherbrooke in straight sets, winning 25-16, 25-23, 25-10. Matt Kaminski led the way for CBC, notching 13 kills and three blocks. Will Quiring had 11 kills for the Bearcats, while Emmanuel Denguessi's effective serving earned him player of the game honours. "Our veteran players were solid and they dictated the play," Bearcats head coach Rocky Olfert said. "But the whole team played well. We served tough and we scrambled on defence."The CBC men move on to the semifinals on Friday evening, where they face second-seeded Briercrest College of Caronport, Sask. The other semifinal pits UBC-Okanagan against Humber College of Ontario.
