The Columbia Bible College men's volleyball team swept the Douglas College Royals in straight sets on Friday afternoon to punch its ticket to the provincial championship game. The third-seeded Bearcats made short work of the No. 2-ranked Royals, winning 25-21, 25-18, 26-24 in the B.C. Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA) semifinals at UBC-Okanagan in Kelowna. Sophomore setter Jason Warkentin earned player of the game honours for the Bearcats, dishing out 28 assists. Matt Kaminski and Will Quiring added 13 and 12 kills respectively for CBC.Jeff Taylor (15 kills) and MEI grad Matt Lieuwen (10 kills) led the Royals' attack.Friday's win means the Bearcats are more than likely ticketed for the national championships. The B.C. champ gets an automatic berth, and in years past, a runner-up finish has yielded a wild card spot.CBC will play the winner of Friday's late semifinal between the host UBC-O Heat and the Vancouver Island University Mariners in the title game.
