B.C. Cross Country Championships in Clearbrook Park

Abbotsford runners competing in provincial XC championship.

In excess of 500 runners from throughout the province will converge on Clearbrook Park Saturday (Oct. 25) to take part in the British Columbia Athletics Cross Country Championships.

The meet begins at 10:45 a.m. with an eight km Master’s race.  Following are 12 other races beginning with a two km run for 10-year-olds and working up through the various age divisions and concluding at 3 p.m. with the senior men’s 10-km run.

Valley Royal Track Club should be well-represented in the age division runs.  Rachel Mortimer, winner of the Grade 8 girls division of the Lafarge Grand Prix and Josh Carsience, who won the Grade 5 boys division, are both expected to do well on Saturday.   Aiden Bingert and Tanner Geary will be very competitive in the Youth men’s competition.

The Clearbrook Park course is run over a two km loop that contains grass, hills and rough terrain. The course is spectator friendly.
