The Trinity Western University men’s basketball team has landed a pair of Abbotsford players as part of its 2014 recruiting class.

MEI’s Josiah Allison and Yale Secondary’s Patrick Vandervelden are among seven B.C. high school products to sign with the Spartans.

Allison, a 6’1” guard, is coming off a terrific season with the Eagles which saw him average 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists per game. He earned team MVP honours in both Grade 11 and Grade 12, and was a first team all-star at Oak Bay’s 2013 Gary Taylor Classic as he helped MEI capture the tournament title.

Vandervelden, a 6’9” forward, racked up 16 points, 14 rebounds and an incredible eight blocks per game during his senior year with the Yale Lions, and picked up the top defensive player award at the Terry Fox Legal Beagle tournament.
