Hope will be the centre of the independent wrestling world in British Columbia later this month, when All Star Wrestling makes its first appearance on local soil since the pandemic closed the squared circle.
ASW invades the Hope Cinema for the first time ever on Saturday, Nov. 13, with a total of five matches announced.
The main event features 28-year veteran “Mr Beefy Goodness” Vance Nevada battling Thunder from Jalandhar.
Nevada has a storied career throughout competing all across Canada and has competed in more than 1,500 matches. He’s a former five-time ASW Trans-Canada heavyweight champion, Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling champion and National Wrestling Alliance Canadian heavyweight champion.
He has also appeared in the Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s 500 (which annually ranks the top 500 wrestlers on the planet) 11 times. His highest ranking was 239th in 1996. Nevada is considered a wrestling historian and penned the book Wrestling in the Canadian West back in 2009.
Thunder from Jalandher made his debut in 2015 and has captured both the ASW Trans-Canada heavyweight championship and the ASW tag team title (with All Elite Wrestling star Luchasaurus).
Other matches announced include: Azeem the Dream vs. Battle Wasp, Jayce D’Arcy vs. Christopher Ryseck (with Kat Galore) and Braydon Goss vs. Adam Ryder (with Rylee).
Goss, a Summerland product, has been wrestling for four years after receiving his initial training in the game from Lance Storm’s Calgary-based Storm Wrestling Academy. Promoters stated in a press release that Goss is likely to be a top contender for championships in ASW.
Event organizers added that there will be some surprises planned for the show, which kicks off at 7 p.m.
The Hope show will also feature the unveiling of the new ASW championship belts. The company’s new Trans-Canada heavyweight belt took eighteen months to craft and new championship hardware for the women’s division and the tag team division will be previewed as well. It is expected that an announcement will be made about the upcoming matches to crown the new champions.
Tickets for the event are available at the Hope Cinema box office and available online at vtixonline.com/all-star-wrestling-in-hope/2115. Organizers have announced that public health protocols will be observed and patrons will be asked to wear masks at the event and show proof of vaccination upon entry.
