It was a great day for the Knights at the Fraser Valley XC Championship Meet Wednesday in Coquitlam as 12 runners qualified for the provincial championship. The senior girls team raced to a third place finish and a provincial berth for a fifth year in a row. The team was led by Grade 8 Jessica Kampman, who finished 17th out of 120 runners. The junior boys exceeded their coach’s expectations and placed fourth out of 16 teams to also earn a berth to the provincials. Justin Berger led the way with a ninth place finish, but the depth of the team was key as David Adams, Jarrod Chooi, and Jonathon Van Garderen all had terrific races over the 4.7 km course. It has been a strong season for the team as they captured the Christian Schools Championships earlier in October. The Provincial Championship Meet is in Victoria on Nov. 1.
