Five Abbotsford rugby players helped the B.C. under-19 men's rugby team win gold at the national championship tournament in Edmonton last week.

Connor Hunter, Ryan March, Deon Smit, Christian Styles and Paul Ahn were key contributors on the undefeated side.

B.C. opened with a 41-17 win over the Eastern Ontario and Quebec Voyageurs, and narrowly defeated tournament heavyweights Ontario 31-24 in a thriller on Saturday afternoon. The provincial squad was flawless on Sunday, shutting out the Atlantic 55-0 and wrapping up the title with a 30-0 triumph over the Prairie Wolfpack.

"Considering that all the other teams in this tournament are currently in season, it's very impressive that our lads were able to come here after our training sessions and perform the way we did," B.C. head coach Kris de Scossa stated in a press release. "You could see the elation on their faces as they capitalized on the mismatches and put on such a clinical and professional display."
