Abbotsford’s Yogi Karate Dojo earns handful of medals at Sato Cup

Local karate group excels at Burnaby-based event on Nov. 4

Abbotsford’s Yogi Karate Dojo (YKD) earned a handful of medals at the Sato Cup Karate Championship, which occurred in Burnaby on Nov. 4.

YKD celebrated a total of four gold and several silver and bronze medals at the event.

Taking home gold were: Homan Sharma, Ranon Sharma, Ryan Sharma, and Nirvair Singh Maan. Following the gold medallists, Arman Dhaliwal scored two silver medals and Sartaj Singh Bhatti added one silver and one bronze.

Devyan Sharma, Manat Dahliwal, and Ranon Sharma all also took home silver. Bronze medallists included: Sartaj Singh Bhatti, Ekam Doel, Flynn, Droov Shukla, Angad Singh Bhatti, Sehj, and Tashi Sharma.

Next up for YKD is the Canada Open Karate Championships, which occur in Richmond on Dec. 2 and 3. It’s the sixth edition of the event, which is regarded as one of the largest tournaments in North America.
