Abbotsford golfer Nick Taylor took a big step toward qualifying for the Web.com Tour playoffs with a strong performance at the Price Cutter Charity Championship in Springfield, Missouri.

The Web.com Tour rookie authored his second career top-10 finish on the circuit, tying for ninth at 18 under par for the tourney. That left him three strokes back of the winner, Cameron Percy of Australia.

Taylor entered Sunday's final round tied for 16th, but moved up the leaderboard with a six-birdie, one-bogey round of 67 at Highland Springs Country Club.

He earned $18,900 for his finish, which boosted him from 78th to 66th on the Web.com Tour money list with total earnings of $64,813. The top 75 golfers at the end of the regular season advance to the four-tourney playoff series, and there are just two regular-season events remaining.

Fellow Abbotsford golfer Adam Hadwin, who sits 10th on the Web.com money list ($223,267) and has his PGA Tour card for next season essentially sewn up, took the week off.

The next event on the schedule is the News Sentinel Open, Aug. 14-17 in Knoxville, Tenn.
