Yale Secondary’s Halle May has signed with the University of New Brunswick’s track and field program.

The Grade 12 student revealed the news on her social media last week.

“I’m very excited to announce that I have committed to the University of New Brunswick for varsity track and field and cross country,” she stated. “Thank you to my parents and all my coaches who have supported me along the way.”

She will be joining the Fredricton-based school in the fall and brings with her years of competing and training with the Abbotsford-based Valley Royals track and field club, as well as competing with the Yale Lions.

Valley Royals officials stated that they have enjoyed working with May during her time with the team.

“Halle has been a core member of our club for the past four years and has been an example to those athletes who train with her,” they shared on their website. “Halle has shown constant dedication and her positive attitude and work ethic set a tone in the distance group that is contagious. She has been a pleasure to coach and deserves every bit of the success that she has experienced.”

The UNB Reds compete in Atlantic University Sports, which is a part of U Sports. The cross country season typically runs from September to November, with track and field occurring in February and March.

May will be pursuing a bachelor of philosophy and interdisciplinary learning at UNB.
