The MEI Eagles junior boys volleyball team captured the Fraser Valley title earlier this month, and head to Kamloops this weekend for a shot at the provincial championship.
The Eagles defeated Pacific Academy in the Fraser Valley finals, which occurred earlier this month in Port Coquitlam.
MEI outlasted 15 other teams to earn the banner.
John Letkemann of the Eagles was named the tournament’s most valuable player, with Levi Kropp and Hunter Arulpragasam named tournament all-stars.
The Abbotsford Christian Knights scored bronze at the event, defeating Langley Christian in the third place game. Joel Vanderveen of the Knights was also named a tournament all-star.
Both the Eagles and the Knights head to the provincials, which run until Saturday in Kamloops. The Yale Lions are also competing at the event.
MEI also earned bronze in the Grade 8 boys Fraser Valley tournament. Noah Friesen and Troy Ardell were named tournament all-stars. ACS picked up bronze in the Grade 8 girls Fraser Valley’s, with Alana De Jong receiving an all-star nod.
The MEI senior boys volleyball team also impressed at the AA Fraser Valley’s, picking up silver at the event hosted at ACS on Nov. 16. Eagles players Ethan Loewen, Jackson Klassen and Cole Brandsma were all named tournament all-stars.

MEI and ACS both head to the AA senior boys provincials, which run from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1 at the Langley Events Centre.
The Robert Bateman Timberwolves senior girls team earned silver in the AAA Fraser Valley’s, with players Kayla Wilford and Kate Letwin named tournament all-stars. The club heads to Powell River for provincials from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
The MEI Eagles senior girls won Fraser Valley AA bronze by defeating Surrey Christian in the third place game, with Lara Frew getting a tournament all-star nod. The Eagles now head to Burnaby for the AA provincials from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
