The Canadian men's and women's national softball teams are playing against the Americans in the 2025 Border Battle tournament in July.

Yet another battle between the Canadians and Americans is forming, but this time it's to determine who has the best softball stars.

The annual Border Battle is returning for its 15th season, where men's and women's national slow pitch teams from each country go up against each other with nothing but national pride on the line.

Included on the rosters this year are a few Abbotsford athletes and coaches, who will be heading down to Oklahoma City in July to take on their American counterparts.

The men's Border Battle roster includes Abbotsford's Massimo Peranio, while fellow local Mike Neufeld has been named assistant coach of the squad for the third consecutive year.

Sydney Heschuk is the only Abbotsford resident to make the women's team, but will be joined by several other Lower Mainland players.

The Canadians will be looking to get some revenge after last year's tournament, where the final Border Battle match ended in a tough loss for both the men's and women's Canadian teams.

The Border Battle softball tournament takes place from July 24 to 26, with a full schedule available at www.usasoftball.com/team-usa/competitions/2025-border-battle-xv.
