Abbotsford Skating Club ready for fall

Figure skating is ramping back into action with the fall session beginning on Sept. 5.

The Abbotsford Skating Club got back into the swing of things in Burnaby recently.

ASC members competed at the 2017 Super Series SummerSkate, which ran from Aug. 17 to 20 at Burnaby 8 Rinks.

Local results included:

• Libby Tucker – Star 2, bronze

• Anika Doerksen – Star 4 U13, 11th

• Ainsley Young – Star 6, 18th

• Emilie Ruffell – Star 6, 19th and Star 7, 13th

• Anika Phinney – Star 7, sixth

• Juvenile Ladies U14 (Group 2) – 14th

• Mica Kerr – Pre-Juvenile Ladies U13, 18th

• Della Williamson – Juvenile Ladies U14 (Group 1), fifth

The club has been offering summer skating most of the summer at Centre Ice, and will resume the fall session on Sept. 5 at the Matsqui Recreation Centre (MRC).

Group lessons begin on Sept. 12, and include Pre-Canskate, CanSkate, CanPower, Star and Skate Academy.

Registration was recently held, but there are a few spots still available. One last registration for the programs occurs on Sept. 7 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at MRC.
