Abbotsford Pilots split opening exhibition weekend

Abbotsford wins on home ice, falls in Mission

The Abbotsford Pilots opened the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s exhibition schedule with a split against the club’s rivals from Mission.

The Pilots opened the schedule with a 4-1 win over the Outlaws at MSA Arena on Friday.

The teams were tied at one after 20 minutes, but Abbotsford took over in the second period with three unanswered goals to secure the win.

Abbotsford and Mission tangled again on Saturday night in Mission, with the Outlaws skating away with a 5-4 win. Mission led 3-1 after two periods, and Abbotsford made it close in the third by scoring three goals but ultimately coming up short.

The Pilots next host the Port Moody Panthers tonight (Friday) at 7:30 p.m. That game marks the end of the exhibition run for the club.

Abbotsford beings the PJHL regular season on Sept. 7, when the Langley Trappers come to town. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the MSA Arena.
