Abbotsford paddlers win gold

A pair of Abbotsford residents took home a trio of gold medals at the 2017 Pan American Club Crew Championships in Puerto Rico in March.

Anne Vander Laan and Connie Thompson were crew members on the successful women’s Senior C 10-person dragon boat team Ti-10, and earned gold medals in the 200, 500 and 2,000 metre races.

Ti-10 is part of the Titanium dragon boat team which practises out of Fort Langley.

This win builds on previous successes at the IDBF Club Crew World Championships in Australia in 2016, and Italy in 2014.

The team is now in training to compete at the Canadian Dragon Boat Championships in Ontario this August, and in preparation for the IDBF Club Crew World Championships in Hungary in 2018.
