Abbotsford karate athletes bring home hardware

Eight locals take home medals at provincial tournament

The Abbotsford Shotokan Karate Dojo cleaned up in Kelowna over the weekend.

Abbotsford karate athletes participated at the annual BC Provincial Karate Tournament for the Japan Karate Association, with several locals taking home hardware.

Those earning medals included: Kaelyn Quinlan (silver in kumite), Kieran Campbell (bronze in kata and silver in kumite), Angad Singh (gold in kata and gold in kumite), Basant Singh (silver in kata and bronze in kumite), Kazuki MacDonald (silver in kata and a silver in kumite), Nathan Wosnack (gold in kata and bronze in kumite), Aman Sidhu (bronze in kata and silver in kumite), Bernie Nixon (silver in kata).

Also earning gold was the ASKD's chief instructor Sensei Harry Sidhu, who was awarded gold in the Men's Advanced Master's Black Belt Kata division.
