The Cardinals return to home field at DeLair Park this Saturday.

The Abbotsford Cardinals closed off April in British Columbia Premier Baseball League action with a narrow 3-2 loss to to the White Rock Tritons in South Surrey on the 26th.

White Rock got on the board in the bottom of the first, but the Cardinals answered back in the second with a pair of runs.

Cardinals right fielder Gage Buck belted a double to put Abbotsford on the board, and Chase Stewart drove home the Cardinals' second run to give them the 2-1 lead.

Abbotsford held on to that until the bottom of the fifth, when White Rock scored on a pass ball. The Tritons took the lead for good after scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth.

Errors continued to be an issue for the Cardinals, as they committed three compared to only one by the Tritons.

Abbotsford starting pitcher Ethan Kano-McGregor was solid on the mound, striking out six batters and only allowing one earned run over four innings. Cardinals first baseman Carter Loewen had a team-high two hits in the loss.

The setback drops the Cardinals' record to three wins and nine losses in BCPBL action. Abbotsford is tied for 10th place overall in the 12-team league.

The next home games for the Cardinals occur on Saturday, when the Okanagan Athletics come to town for a doubleheader. Abbotsford then hosts the Athletics for another pair of games on Sunday. Games start at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. on Sunday.
