Eight Abbotsford athletes have qualified for the next stage in the CrossFit Games season.

CrossFit Abbotsford coaches Candice Manning and Shane McAleese have qualified for the quarterfinals for the third year in a row and also qualifying are locals Warren Balzer, Kenton Paul, Sylvia Francisco and masters athletes Scott Savage, Lisa Matechuk, and Bill Vanderkooi.

In their 12th year competing in the CFG season, CFA had 65 participants ranging in ages from 17 to 72. The CrossFit Open, the first stage of competition, attracts over 300,000 athletes from around the world and culminates with one man and one woman being named ‘fittest on earth’ at the CFG.

“The event really brings our community together and motivates our athletes to push themselves beyond what they thought was possible,” stated CFA co-owner Matt McAleese.

The CFA team competes out of Movement Society Fitness Club + Sports Clinic in east Abbotsford.
