The Yale Lions claimed third-place at the AAA senior boys BC High School Championships.

Yale's senior boys AAA rugby side capped their best season ever by earning the bronze medal at the BC high school provincial championships Saturday at Rotary Stadium.

A loss to powerhouse St. George's in the semifinal Thursday set up a rematch of the hotly contested Fraser Valley final against the Earl Marriott Mariners earlier this month in which Yale won.

The two teams' final game of the season was even closer and ended in a 22-22 tie after a scoreless overtime. Yale was named victor, though, because they had scored more tries in the game.

Robert Bateman, meanwhile, fell in the fifth-place game to Oak Bay to finish sixth in the province.
