Unhappy with city hall salaries during economic slowdown

It seems that the Abbotsford population quietly accepts the outrageous increases the municipal council awarded itself and its employees

Instead of an uproar, it seems that the Abbotsford population quietly accepts the outrageous increases the municipal council awarded itself and its employees.

While the economy has been slowing down, and wages for most people have been stagnant, our civil servants keep going to the trough.

The world economy is slowing down and a very serious crisis is expected by many economists. City tax revenues have nosedived. Because of all the handsome pay scales, pensions and health care benefits that local governments awarded themselves, many cities are broke. Several have declared bankruptcy.

Have our own civil servants ever thought of the possibility their tax revenue may go down, forcing them to either lower their income and benefits, or else raise taxes?

Count on your taxes being raised, because lowering their own benefits goes against the grain of all politicians.

Let them know you also are unhappy with their lack of consideration.
