Shocked at trash

My children and I participated in Community Clean-up Week this month.

My children and I participated in Community Clean-up Week this month. We were shocked by the amount of garbage we found on our beautiful country road. Even worse was that only a week later it looked just as bad again. Here are my children’s thoughts on the matter.

Bryson, 8:

Community Clean-up Week is a week where we should always clean up the trash on the road.  We went out with trash bags and we had gloves and we picked up the garbage alongside our street. We even found a garden hose by the side of the road. We felt sad when we saw all the garbage. We only walked half a kilometre and we filled up a garbage bag. And it was a country street.  It is bad to litter.  So bring your garbage home. And throw it in the trash can. Please stop littering.

Samara, 5:

I felt sad when I saw all the garbage.  It is very bad to litter because you could wreck the animals’ habitat.  You could make an animal lost and not find its mommy again.  That makes people work hard on the streets to pick it up.  So please, don’t litter.  Please never litter again.
