MLA John van Dongen’s move showed courage

John van Dongen has been sustaining similar treatment from certain political thugs in our community and his patience has run out.

Kenny Rogers sang a ballad back in the ’80s that became number one on the music charts.

The song was about a man who was wrongfully perceived as a coward in his community and as a result of consistent bullying and contrary to his fathers advice, he finally took single-handed action. None of his adversaries were left standing after the ensuing brawl.

I think John van Dongen has been sustaining similar treatment from certain political thugs in our community and his patience and tolerance has finally run out.

Joining the Conservatives was a brilliant and refreshing strategy because Van Dongen is now a member of a party so new that it is without corruption, and best of all, his bullies are now at his mercy.

By not resigning van Dongen has more than a year left to continue serving the good people in Abbotsford South with the same quality service that he provided during his 17 years in public office.

There ought to be no doubt that he will earn the privilege of being their MLA for many years to come.
