It is more than disturbing to learn that the northern half of your wonderful community is under siege by a group of young men.
This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable in such a diverse and God-loving community.
Historically, North Abbotsford, and Matsqui, have been home to a rich and diverse Christian and Sikh population that has flourished with cooperation and mutual respect based on the ideologies that each of their religions contain.
We, as citizens and protectors of human rights and religions, must do everything in our power to make sure it continues and exists for decades to come. No longer can we stand by and solely rely on our over-stretched police departments and think we are doing enough.
I call on everyone, in all communities, to report this systemic violence and prejudice at every opportunity, to aid and assist police departments in recognizing potential serious threats to citizens of Abbotsford and outlying communities, to stop this now, before innocent people get caught in various types of crossfire and someone is seriously hurt.
