This morning I read your article on the homeless issues in Abbotsford.
I live about two blocks from Jubilee Park and realize that they, or should I say we, have some real valid concerns.
I have always supported the homeless by donations and by feeding people who I see need a meal or help.
But here is my concern. With the last move out of Jubilee Park, I was aghast at what an utter mess was left after their evacuation.
The garbage and waste that was left for the city to clean up was, to say the least, disgusting, and of course, at the expense to taxpayers.
I would like to know why, if they want our support and respect, they cannot respect us and the city we live in and clean up after themselves, thus showing us they can manage their camps.
How can we support anything or anyone who could leave such a disgusting mess behind for others to clean up?
I have quit donations to the homeless, and will no longer leave blankets or food, etc. to encourage them on.
But I will help other needy causes.
Show us all respect and that is what you will receive back.
We all live in this city – let’s work on this together. Mistakes have been made, bad choices have been clearly happened, but let’s move on to find a solution that works for us all.
