LETTER: Residents have had enough

I believe that marginalized people require help but I also feel (as do my neighbours) that we work hard for what we have...

With the contentious issue of the possible rezoning of the downtown area to accommodate community services, I am surprised that no one has asked residents within 1,000 metres of the proposed property in question as to how we feel we will be impacted.

I believe that marginalized people require help but I also feel (as do my neighbours) that we work hard for what we have and would like to keep the integrity of the downtown core.

The area is saturated with resources for the less fortunate already.

The building that community services proposes to build would be better suited away from the downtown core where there are numerous liquor outlets and drug dealers.

There is no substance abuse counselling at the community service location downtown. People would have to travel to west Abbotsford to receive counselling for their addictions.

My street is also a corridor for the infamous “pharmacy” on Busby Street. I think I can speak for the majority, if not all, the residents on Clarke Drive, we have had enough.
