I’d like to support LNG, because I hope that it will replace coal.
However, we need to have strict regulations to prevent the escape of methane emissions, or LNG will be worse than coal.
The Suzuki foundation has done an independent test of methane emissions and found them to be 2.5 times what the government tests show. Given the Liberals’ track record when it comes to regulating resource extraction, I can’t support LNG any longer unless we get a different government.
