Especially groups like The Abbotsford-Mission Nature Club, presently in the process of filing a law suit against the Northern Gateway Pipe line project (News June 20, 2014).
Come on now, folks, developing natural resources with huge potential for economic growth and numerous job opportunities is called progress. Carving a pipeline through a small part of a forest is not going to ruin the whole forest.
If groups like the Nature Club and First Nation dwellers had lived in the 1800 era when the Canadian Pacific Railway tunnels were chiselled through the Rocky Mountains and built from Coast to Coast, none of it would have been developed. Neither would the Trans Canada Highway, the longest highway in the World today, have seen the light of day.
Think. How stable are the resources that supply us with oil, like Iraq? What if our everyday needs like gasoline, oil and diesel for transportation, building materials, clothing and so many other items made from these resources were cut off even for a short while?
The Gateway Pipeline allows Canada to become an Energy Super Power by pumping an estimated 525,000 barrels of oil each day, establish self sufficiency, more jobs and vastly improved economic conditions.
Natural resources are put there not to disregard but to be used wisely.
