LETTER: Mail carriers and the end of an era

An era is coming to an end. Mail carriers are being replaced by community boxes in 2015.

Mail delivery started in 1693 when Pedro da Silva was paid to deliver mail between Quebec City and Montreal.

Canada Post was founded in 1867. The first airmail delivery started Oct. 10, 1908. Rural and door-to-door started July 24, 1908.

Now an era is coming to an end. Mail carriers are being replaced by community boxes in 2015. They have put up with barking dogs, bad weather, etc.

I don’t think we have shown much support for them.

How much thought has been put into seniors and disabled people?

Thank you for all the years of great service. It has been greatly appreciated.
