LETTER: Legalization would send a message

There are so many negatives caused by marijuana that it would be impossible to list them all...

Editor, The News

Thank you Montanna Robertson for your well thought out letter "Legalization of pot is disturbing" in the Dec 5 edition of The News.Your point's that if legalized, pot would "more available to youth" I would also suggest that legalization would send a message, it must be OK to use, it's legal! Use by youth," who would be four times more prone to suffer from a psychotic disorder" "even put them at risk of addiction"

There are so many negatives caused by marijuana that it would be impossible to list them all.According to US DEA a large percentage of those arrested for crimes test positive for marijuana .40% of adult males tested positive at time of arrest.Of adults 26 or older who used marijuana before the age of 15, 62% went on to use cocaine at some point in their lives. 9% went on to use heroin at least once.54% made non-medical use of mind altering prescription drugs.

Everyone who smokes pot will tell you how safe and beneficial it is.Anyone who knows someone who smokes pot  can tell you about the negative effects of the dangerous drug.Let's protect our youth.Say NO! to the harmful, possibly addictive drug, marijuana. Parents, do you care? Adults do you care about the children of our community? If so, please set a positive example, be a role model. Think about it!
