LETTER: Goose over-population

If dog owners are required to pick up after their dogs, someone should be picking up after the geese!

My family likes to walk around Fish Trap Creek and Mill Lake.

However, the Canada goose over-population has hijacked our enjoyment of these trails.

There is so much goose poop on the paved trails that it’s like navigating through a mine field. If dog owners are required to pick up after their dogs, someone should be picking up after the geese!

Furthermore, the large grassy areas (such as Mill Lake Park along Bevan Ave.) are not safe, hygienic places for a picnic.

The baseball diamonds at Ellwood Park (along Maclure Rd.) are similarly gross.

We understand it can be challenging to bring urban living and wildlife close together; there needs to be give and take.

But currently, the geese are preventing our enjoyment of the parks that our tax dollars fund.  That’s wrong.
