I heartily applaud the tireless work of our local law enforcement officers, but can’t we all see what’s really going on here? The lawmakers in our land are not doing their part. When a drunk driver kills someone, the penalties are laughable. Do distracted drivers really injure and kill? Yes they do, and what comes of it? Not much. As I see it, for those who drive distracted and get a nominal fine, it’s just the price of doing business. If our lawmakers had some guts, I would think they would seize the car outright, garnishee some wages, levy a big fine, and/or dish out some major jail time. We’ll see who will be yakking on the cell phone then.
