I live in a nice clean complex on McCallum Rd. and I am concerned about the way Abbotsford council has chosen to ignore and allow the use of city properties to be accessed.
The parking lot south of Jubilee Park on McCallum Road has a van parked there full-time. It draws a certain group there daily and even after dark there is activity. This has continued over the last year.
Why is it allowed? If I should decide to park my vehicle there, and leave it parked, it would surely be towed away. There seems to be different laws and rules being applied.
If we are allowing the homeless to use the properties on Railway Street, then why is this group not going there to feed them? Wouldn't that be more convenient for all concerned?
Why are they accessing another piece of city property? At least keep it central. It is a problem we all face, but to allow certain groups to do whatever they choose is not fair to those of us who pay city taxes for access to a safe city parks and amenities.
Let's deal with the problem, not ignore it or simply just allow it.
