LETTER: City looks cheap and seedy

I’ll start off by saying, Sec. 18 bylaw 2500-2015 “any council member can ask for motion to reconsider…” and I hope someone on our city council has an epiphany and does it.

As interveners, the City of Abbotsford asked for 98 conditions (many concerning health and safety for its citizens) to be met before endorsing the expansion of the Kinder Morgan pipeline.

Kinder Morgan has refused these conditions.

Personally, and I don’t think I’m alone, I think Abbotsford comes off looking cheap and seedy accepting a “gift” and dropping opposition before the NEB’s decision.

Beyond that, it might just be a good idea to rescind this vote and check the ethics on behalf of the citizens who do not feel the city is acting in their best interests.

Finally, I’m not sure what other interveners are to make of Abbotsford’s acceptance in lieu of any concessions to the health and safety of the thousands who may be affected by a spill: the promise of a new clubhouse for their golf course.
