I’m struck by (Chamber of Commerce president) Mr. Welte’s view that Abbotsford’s downtown should be exclusively for businesses. Maybe that’s what needs to be re-thought. Cities are for people. Right now, “Historic Downtown Abbotsford” verges on traffic congestion in a big strip mall.
This is all beside the fact that the seeming focal point of night life there is the Fraser Valley Inn and the two adjacent liquor/beer stores. Perhaps he wishes for more businesses like those for the area? How about a casino too?
