Re: Abbotsford Agri-Centre benefits to the City of Abbotsford

I would like to express my support for this project. Abbotsford is an agricultural community and innovative projects like the Agri-Centre are few and far between.

Sumas Way, where many of the existing equipment dealers are currently located, has too much traffic and commercial big-box development.  This has had negative consequences for agriculture equipment dealerships.

For the naysayers in Abbotsford who don’t believe so much emphasis should be put on agricultural equipment, please look around. Every single farm requires equipment to operate and special expertise is required to ensure that it functions effectively. Without equipment dealerships and their specialized technicians, agriculture in Abbotsford would not thrive.

If Abbotsford wants to be known as a City in the County and an agricultural ‘capital’ in Canada, projects like the Agri-Centre are necessary to promote our community and enhance the sector.  It’s my opinion that if Abbotsford truly wants to support economic development and agricultural sustainability, they should be pressing for projects that enhance agricultural industries, both directly and indirectly.

Like many people in Abbotsford, my livelihood and past are tied to farming. It’s about time the City of Abbotsford pay attention to our agricultural heritage and the industries that sustain and enhance our community.

Yours sincerely ,
