Re: Trees make way for new church

I spent most of my school days in this Townline Road area, and the devastation I see as I walk with my children to Gardner Park is, to say the least, unbelievably ugly. Just a mangled mass of broken branches and uprooted huge stumps are all that is left of more than a dozen beautiful trees.

Nature cannot recover fast enough from man’s destruction for the babies of today to see the trees of this stature return in 70 years.

What are we leaving for them?

Who in authoritative positions will be brave enough to open their eyes to what we are all losing? Think of the recognition and admiration that would be showered on city planners and builders who dared to have the conscience to build around existing towering trees such as these that were simply in the way of a parking lot and a new church building.

Is this really progress?
