Give up constitutional rights

Regarding a recent article about how drugs are being smuggled into prisons and another story about the ineffectual tracking of sex offenders, has it not been made obvious yet that convicted persons should have all their constitutional rights waived while they are serving their time? Including after they’ve been paroled as, technically, they are still convicts and are still serving their sentence.

It seems to me that while the criminals get to have this and that constitutional right upheld the victims get very little, if any, constitutional recognition.

On top of this the criminals get double credit for time served while waiting to go to trial and then get an early release as well.

That’s a pretty harsh sentence for peddling drugs to elementary schools or raping someone or killing someone.

What “credit” do the victims get? Watching these people get an even easier ride?

I think our constitution is well and good. I think applying it to convicted criminals is not.

I’d like to see if a petition to our public safety minister would have any effect in my lifetime. I can’t be the only person that has this politically incorrect view.
