Acceptable public entertainment

Re: Lingerie football

The women involved do not appear to be exploited, and take the game very seriously as athletes. It appears to be a fast-moving game with lots of intensity. There is an element of sexual energy to the game, which is linked to the marketing strategy. It would likely appeal to a certain demographic, such as sports-oriented males in the 20 to 35 age bracket.

The lingerie league is paying the facility rent up front and not seeking municipal subsidies, unlike a local hockey club.

The outfits look more like bathing suits and not lingerie – skimpy, but no more so than beach volleyball players or even swimmers.

My assessment is that it’s within the range of acceptable public entertainment and can only help the local economy, so it should go ahead.
