William (Bill) Verhagen passed away peacefully on February 21, 2019 at the age of 89 years. His struggles are over and we celebrate that he is with his Lord. He was predeceased by his son Mark (2018). He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Ann and his three daughters; Karen & Sid Doornbos, Helen & Alan Vandenberg, Yolanda Verhagen and his daughter-in-law Cheryl Verhagen. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and their spouses and 15 great grandchildren. He is also remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad was born in Halfweg, The Netherlands on April 22, 1929 into a large boisterous family. Dad didn't say much but he had a servant heart which he used in many ways as Elder, Deacon and Treasurer at First CRC (now Gateway). He quietly did other tasks around the church and community. His positive outlook was a source of encouragement to many.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 1 pm at Gateway Christian Reformed Church, 2884 Gladys Avenue, Abbotsford, BC. Tributes and condolences may be left at:
