William Melville DISTAN

Bill passed away suddenly at Mission Hospital in his 91st year. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Doreen, his daughters Judy and Wendy (Joe), and son Bruce, grandchildren Jonathan (Dawn), Nicole (Aeron), Veronica (Rob), Kimberly (Jeremy), Christina and Ryan; great grandchildren Braeden, Jordan, Julia and Kalen. Predeceased by sister Lillian and son-in-law Tony. Bill was born in Dundee, Scotland and grew up in North Vancouver. He joined the R.C.A.F. during WWII and served as a sergeant until his discharge in 1946. It was during this time that he met his future wife, who was also in the services, and upon his discharge they were married in Vancouver. In 1952 they moved to Port Coquitlam to raise their young family. Upon Bill’s retirement from refridgerative supply they moved to Mission where they have lived for the past 26 years. Bill was a loving, caring man who enjoyed bowling and curling and was always ready to give a helping hand to family and friends.

Memorial service to be held at All Saint's Anglican Church, 33077 2nd Avenue, Mission, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2007. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
