William (Bill) Paul Planidin

1932 ~ 2017

Bill was born in Castlegar, BC on July 23, 1932 and passed away in hospital on March 5th, with family by his side. He is predeceased by parents Paul and Annie, ex-wife Patricia, and infant son George (at birth). He loved his family, and will be lovingly remembered by his twins Ken (Debbie), Karen, and daughter Janet (Matt), grandchildren; Blake, Ashley, Jordan, Jared, and Bear "our puppy". He resided in his home in Mission for almost 60 years, always calling himself "The Mayor of 9th Ave." In the summer months you were sure to find him out back attending to his garden/greenhouse with a cold one in hand, always making the most beautiful hanging baskets. All his hard working years were devoted to the Shake & Shingle industry. Dad was known for his quick wit/sense of humor, and being a sharp dressed man. He was an exceptional curler, member of the Mission Curling Club, and played in many bonspiels, always adding to his never ending trophy collection. He also enjoyed golfing (co-hosting the Paul Bunyan Golf Tournaments), his gambling trips to the US, putting on his dancing shoes, making crafts (santas/soldiers), and family and friends stopping in for a happy hour, and possibly skunking you in a game of crib. Special thanks to all the staff at The Residence in Mission for the excellent care they gave Dad in his last 3 months. Condolences / tributes can be left at Woodlawn Funeral Home www.woodlawnfh-mission.com. Celebration of Life TBA on his tribute page at a later date.
